Jeffrey Heisler, PhD, CFA


Jeff serves as TwinFocus’ Investment Strategist. His responsibilities involve macro research and manager due diligence.

Jeff works with the firm’s partners and Client Advisors to develop and execute investment strategies based on management philosophy and client objectives across all asset classes and product types. Jeff also leads a variety of investment strategy/policy committees formed to assess tactical and strategic asset allocation convictions and themes across the firm’s client base.

Jeffrey Heisler PhD, CFA

Jeff also leads a variety of investment strategy/policy committees formed to assess tactical and strategic asset allocation convictions and themes across the firm’s client base.

HISTORY


Prior to joining TwinFocus, Jeff was the Market Strategist for The Colony Group. He served on the Investment Committee and chaired the Asset Allocation, Alternatives, and Equity committees. His responsibilities included strategic and tactical asset allocation research and policymaking, as well as directing manager due diligence and selection for Colony’s enhanced open architecture offering. In previous roles, he also served as Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Venus Capital Management, and as a portfolio manager and Senior Analyst for Gottex Fund Management. Jeff started his professional career as an engineer in multiple capacities with IBM.

Jeff has also led an academic career. He was a professor in the Finance and Economics Department at Boston University School of Management, a visiting professor of finance at NYU and an instructor at Reykjavik University. At BU, he was the founding faculty director of the Master of Science in Investment Management (MSIM) program. Jeff has been published in academic and practitioner journals and is the co-author of the book Portfolio Management: Theory and Practice (Wiley, 2019).

EDUCATION


Jeff holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society. He earned a PhD in Finance from New York University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Union College.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE


Jeff is a consultant for the CFA Institute, reviewing the CFA® Program curriculum, a reviewer for the Financial Analysts Journal, and co-authored the Manager Selection readings for the CIPM® Program. He is an avid, if unaccomplished, golfer, martial artist and drummer.
