Laurence Grosbaum, CPA, CFA

Larry is a Managing Director and leads the team’s Portfolio Advisory Group, covering everything from asset allocation, portfolio risk management and trading to client reporting and portfolio analysis. Larry also serves as a client adviser for select family office and institutional client relationships.

INFLUENCE

Larry maintains strong focus on the public markets, working to enhance portfolio efficiency, decrease portfolio expenses and eliminate surprises using a mix of passive and high-conviction actively-managed strategies, all the while shaping the investment narrative for TwinFocus clients. Larry was an early-adopter of exchange-traded products and incorporates his longtime focus on asset allocation research into tactical client applications.

HISTORY

Prior to joining TwinFocus in 2010, Larry served in a variety of roles in and around the investment management industry. As a CPA, Larry provided audit and assurance services to clients across numerous industries, primarily with KPMG. He also provided private equity & real estate analytics through State Street’s Private Edge Group, leading the group’s private equity indexing efforts. Additionally, Larry led an investment performance team at Babson Capital Management, the predecessor organization to MassMutual’s Barings Asset Management.

EDUCATION

Larry earned his B. S. in Business Administration from SUNY at Buffalo, with concentrations in Accounting, Finance and Management Information Systems. He also completed select Masters’-level coursework in Mathematical Finance at Boston University.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

Larry currently serves as the Treasurer of Belmont Youth Lacrosse. He previously served as a Town Meeting member in the Town of Belmont as well as a member of the town’s Alcoholic Beverage Licensing Committee. Larry enjoys cycling and lots of other outdoor sports and activities. He is a far-too-infrequent amateur homebrewer and also spends time in the kitchen on weekends conjuring up ways to integrate chorizo into just about every meal he prepares.
