Jeff leads macro research and manager due diligence across all asset classes and product types. He also leads a variety of investment strategy and policy committees, which assess tactical and strategic asset allocation convictions and themes across the firm’s client base.
Before TwinFocus, Jeff spearheaded strategic and tactical asset allocation research and policymaking and also directly managed due diligence and selection for The Colony Group’s enhanced open architecture offering. He served as Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Venus Capital Management and as a portfolio manager and senior analyst for Gottex Fund Management. Jeff also was a professor in the Finance and Economics Department at Boston University School of Management, a visiting professor of finance at NYU and an instructor at Reykjavik University. At BU, he was the founding faculty director of the Master of Science in Investment Management (MSIM) program. Jeff has been published in academic and practitioner journals and is the co-author of the book Portfolio Management: Theory and Practice (Wiley, 2019).
Jeff holds the designation of CFA® and is a member of the CFA® Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society. He earned a PhD in finance from New York University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Union College.
I feel my experiences as an engineer, teacher and researcher have helped me develop the qualities necessary for investment research: intellectual curiosity, open-mindedness, creative problem solving, attentive to details and strong listening skills.
I’d open a woodworking shop, designing and building custom furniture and cabinetry.
I enjoy spending time with my family. My outside interests include woodworking, martial arts, playing the drums and golf.
